Rainier National Park
The first place we stoped at for our honeymoon was Rainier National Park. I have a bucket list to visit all the National Parks and this was #4. It was around 40 degrees with the mountains getting covered with snow and the sky filled with rain and fog. Rainier not clear to the eye. Subjecting us amateurs to stay at the lower trails. Nonetheless it was still a beautiful sight. The trees were a bright autumn yellowish orange and the pine trees were in full force for the fast approaching winter season ahead. What I love most about the photos above the mountains hiding in the fog. The ridges of the mountains being separated by the clouds. Seattle is known for the constant rain, that is what we saw at this park a lot of rain. However I think that is adds to the beauty of Rainier. The fog and rain that hides what everyone wants to come to the park and see. The beauty all around it is what you end up getting with little glimpses of mountains right in front of your faces. These tall landmarks are hidden in plain sight, it made me slow down and wait. I stood and wanted to stay as long as we could and watch the clouds move and spot the namesake of the park.
More above are from the park. Besides capturing landscapes from a point to make it feel like you are there, I enjoy trying to find different framing. I like using leading lines as well as subjects in the frame to highlight other points in the photos. Maybe it something I just enjoy but I like when my main subject isn’t quite the biggest point. The trees blocking bits of the mountain or the log being larger than the mushrooms.
Many of these photos taken were on a mile loop trail in Rainier called the Trail of Shadows. This trail was through the forrest with many peaks of the mountains through the trees. The forrest was a beautiful landscape. The roads leading through the forrest were just as breathtaking as any trail you could have taken. I am eager to visit again in the summer months to some completely different views from this lush park.
