Olympic National Park

Being in Washington you have a more than likely chance that you will be caught in the rain. However on this Thursday we were lucky enough to have a sunny day. We still dressed in all of our layers and headed on the road for the about 3 hour drive from Snoqualmie to Olympic. To be fair this beautiful park is large enough that we could have spent our whole week there and would still left parts of the park unexplored. We decided we needed to hit three spots during our Olympic visit; Hoh Rain Forest, The Tree of Life, and Ruby Beach. The first photo is this slide might go down as one of my favorites I have taken with the light illuminating the trees. It was something angelic and I feel lucky to have been able to capture it by simply driving down the road. We took the route right on the edge of the state so we were very close to the Pacific. Our first pull off was to see the tree of life which when we read about it said it defies gravity so we were intrigued to say the least. The tree did not disappoint either. This is something that pictures will never due justice. We walked down the beach which was a new experience to me to see this rocky “beach” covered in sea foam. The tree then took up a large chuck of the cliff with a tiny little waterfall included in the inside as well. You could even crawl up into the tree that lead to a different trail.

In the horizontal images there is some photos from the hike through the Hoh Rainforest. It felt like we were in a different world. That these trails would lead us on a magical adventure although I suppose that is what Washington feels like as a whole. The rainforest lead as on about a 1.5 mile loop to a river with a look on the mountains. I felt like I could have stayed there and just took in my surroundings all day. Although we had a mission and that was to visit Ruby Beach at sunset. We were in awe when we reached the beach. We caught the sun at just the right the time. The coolness of the pacific with the golden lights on the trees, rocks, and water all around was just a heavenly sight. It was something that I have never seen before and so deeply want to see again. If you know me you know that I am not a beach person so and I knew that this would be different and boy was it. It something that I can’t even explain, being at Olympic I just had this desire to stay and take it all in. The shimmering water with glowing trees and rocks made it impossible to turn my back and walk away. I did not want to leave which makes this place my highlight of the honeymoon. Everything about this park, the trails, trees, mountains, and ocean makes it all the perfect package. There is so much more for us to discover at Olympic National Park and I can’t wait for my next opportunity to do so.
